Heat Treat Supervisor
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Supervisor to oversee our Heat Treat Operations at AltaSteel.
Reporting to the Bar Mill Operations Manager, the Heat Treat Supervisor will provide direct supervision and leadership to the Heat Treat employees to ensure the efficient use of equipment and systems to produce heat-treated grinding rods. The supervisor will have the responsibility of ensuring efficient operations and production objectives are achieved.
Responsibilities
- Provide and apply systems of work and ensure understanding and compliance with AltaSteel’s safety, environmental and quality working systems.
- Ensuring operational targets are met.
- Managing employee performance by ensuring Heat Treat employees understand what is expected of them and how they are performing against these expectations.
- Close liaison with other area managers, supervisors and with maintenance teams.
- Ensure training is applicable and records maintained. Ensuring a rigorous training system will help achieve success and fewer incidents.
- Ensure proper inventory accuracy for all Heat Treat related products. Active Participation in all required inventory counts and reconciliations is expected.
- Operate the crane for heat treat sorting when required.
- 20% to 30% of time spent in Bar Mill operations, including but not limited to ensuring Bar Mill Operations has sufficient products including: blades and tie wire for operations including ordering and receiving.
- Ensure incidents are investigated and reported promptly.
- Complete compliance training reassessment when required
- Maintaining qualification to cover all areas of Bar Mill Operations supervision as required, including shift work.
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, standards, and relevant regulations.
- Other duties assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 4 years in a Supervisory capacity
- Previous experience working within a manufacturing facility
- Eager to learn and take on new challenges
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities
- Able to organize, set priorities and work to tight deadlines
- Positive, team-based attitude
